Summer is going by faster than I can keep up with! Pretty soon, the kids will be going back to school and maybe my life will go back to normal. But what's normal when you have schoolagers, a husband, a business and church? Well, one thing I can say is I am really enjoying my time with them. Watching them play and have fun just brings a huge smile to my face each time, and - if you didn't know by now - also makes me get happy to take a gazillion and one pictures! I'll do a post later on about organizing your photos for printing or building an album. For now, let's talk about this cutie: Nehemiah.
Let me start off by saying this session started as a model call session but ended up being a blessing session. What's the difference? A model call session is just for a specific age group or category of photography to help build a photographer's portfolio or to introduce a new concept into their business. A blessing session is where a professional photography business will provide a family session free of charge to a deserving family. All blessing session recipients receive a downloadable portrait gallery of their professionally retouched digital images plus a complimentary 5x7 print.
So how did it become a blessing session? When I realized Nehemiah's mom doesn't have a whole lot of pictures where she's included, coupled with the fact that her own mother is now in heaven - I had to follow my heart. When the Lord tells me to do something, I've learned from experience that it's best to just follow. He may not even fill me in on why, but that's ok. An all-knowing God doesn't owe me an explanation - I'm just His servant!
Let me share a little snippet of Nehemiah's story: he was born with a rare disease called Tracheal Rings, and if it weren't for the grace of God, things could have been much worse. As an infant, Nehemiah had to have open chest surgery to correct his air passage in order for him to breathe normally. Doctors had to cut a portion of his airway, so he doesn't have a normal air passage. To God be the glory for the miracles only He can perform! Nehemiah has had to follow up regularly with the doctor to make sure his airway was developing in proportion to his body. and has recently gotten a good report that his air passage looks really good!
Having had all healthy children myself with no medical problems, learning this about Nehemiah just touched my heart. On top of that, his mom shared with me that Nehemiah was named by his grandmother. His granny is no longer on this earth, but of course, her legacy lives on through her daughter and grandson!
He's such a happy and affectionate little boy, and photographing his loving relationship with his mom was an honor. I am so blessed that she chose to share her story with me, let alone giving me permission to share her testimony on our blog! Hopefully her story encourages someone else and reminds you that you never know someone's life story until they share what they've experienced.
Until next time, never give up on your dreams! God has a purpose for your life!
