How NOT to Lose Your Precious Photos & Videos!

Dear Friend,

It's been a busy week for us here since we were helping do some work on our church in preparation for celebrating our Pastor's 28th pastoral and church anniversary!  We're tired now that it's the weekend; but all the hard work our church family put in was worth it to give honor to our wonderful Pastor who prays and fasts on our behalf, teaches us how to live the Word of God and imparts sound Biblical doctrine.

This week on the blog, we want to focus on the importance of preserving your photos and videos taken with your phone.  You know the scenario:  you're out at your son's little league game or daughter's choir concert, happily video recording his play or her solo, when - oh no! - it stops recording and a message pops up.  "Not enough space on this device."  Scrambling through your phone, you try to figure out which photos or videos to delete to make enough room for today's event.  Which one's to delete????

Why is this important to us if we're professional photographers, you may ask.  Well, the answer is simple.  We are parents ourselves.  We have families.  We go on vacation.  And quite frankly, we don't lug our Canon cameras around everywhere we go.  Sometimes we have moments we want captured at the spur of the moment.  Plus, all too many times in the past, we have deleted photos or even lost little treasures because of not doing one important thing: backing up our photos. Friend, we don't want the same problem to happen to you! Life is too important and those special family gatherings, family trips or sweet moments are priceless.  Like our two youngest playing with one of the twins before he left for bootcamp:

For some reason, our youngest had pouty lips... (we used an app to change the photo into a sketch)

Whether you have an Android or iPhone, you need to make sure you have a secure way of retrieving all those precious life moments.

Here are 3 top FREE apps you can download to your phone (and computer), because let's face it, we all have tons of photos and not enough storage space on our device, right?

  1. Google Photos - yes, this app works on both Apple and Android devices!  It's a super easy way to make sure you never lose another cherished memory, and have unlimited storage space! Woohoo! An added plus, it helps organize your photos as well!
  2. Dropbox - more than just for business, this app allows you to sync your device with your computer - so your photos automatically upload to the desktop when you get home.  Nice!  Even more, you can create folders to organize your photos.
  3. Microsoft OneDrive - great for personal and business, this app works similar to Dropbox by syncing photos and videos to your computer when your device is nearby.  How convenient!  Plus a great way to keep those vacation photos organized!

Although some phones come with a cloud feature for your photos (you can usually check in settings or in the photos menu on your device), these suggested apps are perfect alternatives to making sure you don't lose your precious memories.  We have tried all three, and can't say which one is our favorite. They all work great and offer lots of space to store your family memories.  What's most important is that you don't lose the photos and videos

We are not affiliated with any of the above companies mentioned, so we will not make a profit if you choose to download any of the above apps.

We hope you enjoy the rest of this weekend, and make the best of your upcoming week!

Thank you for taking time to read our blog, and we hope it's been helpful so far.  If there's a topic you'd like us to cover, please comment below.

Until next time, be blessed and encouraged.

From our hearts to yours,

Gary and Angenise
